China's Passenger Car Sales Ranking
In July, Geely Star was willing to suppress the Tesla Model Y with 44,300 units, up 8.3% month-on-month, becoming the only model with sales exceeding 40,000. In third place is Wuling Hongguang MINIEV, with sales of 27,300 units. BYD Seagull, which is similar to the positioning of Star Wish, ranked seventh, with sales of 22,900 units, indicating that there is still a huge market for pure electric cars below 100,000 yuan.
In addition to the Haiou, BYD has another model on the list: the Qin PLUS DM-i, which ranked 9th with 21,500 units sold. It also claimed the top spot among plug-in hybrid sedans, making BYD the only automaker with two models entering the top 10. However, facing the strong rise of Geely Galaxy, BYD's core market share in the sedan segment will face significant impact this year.
Notably, the Xiaomi SU7, which has only been on the market for one year, can be described as the "strongest dark horse". It ranked 5th with 24,400 units sold and simultaneously secured the first place in the mid-to-large-sized sedan sales. Currently, its weekly sales can still remain stable in the range of 5,000 to 7,000 units, showing strong demand. The only factor restricting its sales volume is production capacity.
Also delivering an outstanding performance is the AITO M8, which ranked 8th with 21,500 units sold. With an average selling price of up to 400,000 yuan, it is the model with the highest unit price among the top 10 models, demonstrating its strong appeal in the high-end market.
Furthermore, among the top 10 best-selling passenger cars, fuel-powered vehicles accounted for only 3 seats. They are the Nissan Sylphy (ranked 4th with 26,300 units sold), the Volkswagen Lavida (ranked 6th with 23,000 units sold), and the Geely Boyue L (ranked 10th with 21,000 units sold) respectively.
China's Sedan Sales Ranking
Overall, small/min cars priced below 100,000 yuan firmly dominated the sedan rankings. Geely Xingyuan (official name pending confirmation; transliteration used for reference) and Wuling Hongguang MINIEV took the first and second places respectively, while BYD Haiou ranked sixth. Nissan Sylphy claimed the third spot and secured the top position among joint-venture sedans. Xiaomi SU7 ranked fourth and was also the only model with a price exceeding 200,000 yuan among the top 20. In addition, Volkswagen Lavida, Toyota Camry, and Volkswagen Magotan also made the list. Joint-venture fuel-powered sedans accounted for 5 seats in total, while the rest were independent new energy vehicles. New energy models occupied 11 positions in the top 20.
China's SUV Sales Ranking
In the SUV segment, Tesla Model Y ranked first with 30,800 units sold, but its month-on-month (MoM) decline reached 31.4%, indicating significant pressure. AITO M8 followed closely with strong momentum, achieving a 1.8% MoM growth. Furthermore, Geely Boyue L, which ranked third, recorded monthly sales exceeding 20,000 units and a 62.2% MoM growth, making it the fuel-powered vehicle with the fastest growth rate. Geely had another SUV on the list-Geely Xingyue L ranked fifth. Li Auto L6 took the eighth position. Additionally, Toyota RAV4 (RAV4 Rongfang), Volkswagen Tiguan L, Toyota Corolla Cross (transliterated as Karola Ruifang in Chinese market terminology), Chery Tiggo 8, and Changan CS75 PLUS also entered the top 10. Traditional fuel-powered SUVs accounted for 7 seats in the top 10, still maintaining an absolute dominant position.
China's MPV Sales Ranking
Although Toyota Sienna secured the first place in MPV sales for four consecutive months with 7,341 units sold, independent brand models held an absolute advantage in the MPV market, occupying 6 seats in the top 10. Moreover, Sienna's "sister model"-Toyota Granvia (transliterated as Gereweiya in Chinese market terminology)-ranked eighth with 4,728 units sold.
Following Sienna, Voyah Dreamer PHEV and Denza D9 DM-i claimed the second and third positions in the MPV segment respectively, with sales of 6,501 units and 6,254 units. Immediately after, Buick GL8 PHEV achieved monthly sales of 6,203 units, ranking fourth. When combined with the 5,234 units contributed by its fuel-powered version, the total sales of the GL8 series reached 11,400 units. It was the only MPV model with monthly sales exceeding 10,000 units, demonstrating that its "MPV king" status has not yet been shaken.
